Quarantine Home
Call out: An opportunity for pregnant women to be part of Quarantine’s Spring.

Quarantine was established in 1998 by directors Richard Gregory and Renny O’Shea with designer Simon Banham. We make original theatre, performance and public events with and about the people who are in it. Whatever form it takes, our work begins and ends with the people in the room. Over the last 20 years, we've collaborated with a shifting constellation of artists, performers and people who've never done anything like this before. Our work seeks to create the circumstances for a conversation between strangers...

Call out: An opportunity for pregnant women to be part of Quarantine’s Spring.

Posted: 17 December 2015

We are are looking for pregnant women from Greater Manchester to take part in our next theatre performance, Spring.

Spring. is the final part of an epic quartet of performances about the human life-cycle and our relationship with time. It will be performed 4 times in Manchester’s Old Granada Studios between Friday 25th March and Sunday 3rd April.

Spring. is a piece about about expecting, in both senses of the word, made with a group of women at various stages of pregnancy asking hundreds of questions about the future, live on-stage.

We’re not looking for actors. In fact, it’s probably better if you’ve not done any acting. No particular skill is required, you just need to be reasonably happy with the idea of appearing in front of an audience, and be able to commit to taking part in some rehearsals and all of the performances.

We’re looking for different kinds of people from lots of different backgrounds and we’re particularly interested in having a real span of stages of pregnancy in the show. There’s no upper or lower age limit.

Those wishing to take part will need to be no more than 8 months pregnant at the beginning of April, and should ideally be available to attend rehearsals on selected weekday evenings and weekends.

You will also need to be available to take part in all four performances on:

Friday 25 March (evening)
Saturday 26 March (daytime)
Saturday 2 April (daytime)
Sunday 3 April (daytime)

We hope it will be an extraordinary experience for all involved. We’re asking for volunteers but we’ll pay travel expenses to everyone taking part. We’ll also feed you when you come to rehearsals in the evenings or weekends…

If you’re interested in being involved, know someone who might or want to find out more, please contact Kate Daley at [email protected] or phone 0161 839 4392.

Tonight and tomorrow the show will be different. Because that’s how life is….
