Simon Banham

Designer Simon Banham co-founded Quarantine in 1998 and has created the scenography for all their productions. Simon teaches at Aberystwyth University, where he is Professor of Scenography. He’s designed productions nationally and internationally across a range of genres and disciplines over 40 years. 

In 2017, Simon collaborated with Richard Gregory to create the opening event for the Manchester international Festival ‘What Is the City but the People’ from an idea by Jeremy Deller – and has worked on re-presenting the project in all its iterations since then. He has developed a continuing body of work in contemporary opera with Music Theatre Wales as well as an award-winning series of works for National Theatre Wales.
